Our Services
Gecko Green can provide a variety of specialized insulation products to meet the needs of new and existing commercial and residential buildings. While our major focus is on the application of both closed and open cell spray foam, we can also offer hybrid insulation solutions, blow-in insulation, and insulation removal. Our high-pressure machine also allows us to apply polyurea coatings designed for customized pools, floors, decks, truck bedding, waterproofing and more!
What is Spray Foam Insulation and what are its benefits?
Spray foam is a two-component spray on insulation that expands upon contact; sealing, filling, and insulating virtually any shape or type of void. Spray foam is applied with a specialized high-pressure pump and spray gun. The two chemicals are pumped via heated hose to a specialized spray gun that mixes the chemicals just as they leave the tip of the gun. The chemicals react instantly and cure within seconds. There are two types of spray foam: closed cell and open cell. The two types have unique attributes discussed below. Spray foam can be applied to just about any type of material including wood, concrete, metal, drywall, fiberglass, gravel, dirt, and more. The efficiency of spray foam as an insulator is unmatched due to its higher R value per inch, ability to stop air leakage, and ability to effectively seal voids of any shape or size.
Spray foam insulation improves the performance of your building in several ways:
Spray foam provides a higher R-value per inch than traditional insulation methods such as fiberglass and cellulose. This significantly improves the thermal comfort of your environment and keeps temperatures balanced and consistent.
The rigidity of spray foam provides significant structural strength to your walls and roof. This can help to improve the resiliency and stability of your structure in the event of a natural disaster.
Spray foam creates a continuous seal in your walls and roof which reduces the opportunity for pests such as bugs, spiders, mice, snakes and more from entering your structure.
By reducing drafts and air infiltration, spray foam insulation reduces the amount of outdoor toxins that enter your environment such as diesel particulates, allergens, smoke, pesticides and more.
Spray foam acts as a moisture barrier to lower humidity levels and reduce moisture intrusion.
Spray foam can support noise reduction in your environment. When applied between floors, between interior walls, and as part of the roof, a more peaceful and private environment is created.
Closed Cell
High R value per inch, typically between R-6 to R-7
Acts as a vapor/moisture barrier
Excellent at stopping air leakage
Structural properties that can add up to 50% strength to walls and roofs
Available in variety of densities depending on application needs
Open Cell
Excellent sound absorption properties to help block outside noise pollution as well as indoor sounds between walls and floors
Typical R values between R-3.5 to R-3.8 per inch
Excellent at stopping air leakage
Lower cost per board foot
Blow-In Insulation
R values between R-2.2 to R-2.9 per inch
Can be blown in to create an effective air barrier at a more affordable cost but lower level of performance than spray foam
Can reduce noise but not as effective as open cell foam
Easily applied to new and existing homes and structures
Polyurea Coatings
Polyurea pool coatings create a continuous membrane without joints making a flexible elastic and extremely durable pool coating solution that is extremely resistant to chemicals and UV rays. Polyurea pool coatings have a service life of up to 25 years. New and existing pools can be sealed using polyurea.
